Javad Nekounam is an Iranian football manager and former player who played as a midfielder. He holds the record for the most appearances for the Iranian national team with 149 caps.

Nicknamed Neku by numerous Iranian football fans, he played as a midfielder, and is also regarded as one of greatest players of the history of Pas. Nekounam represented the Iran national team a record of 149 times, playing several major tournaments including two World Cups and four Asian Cups.
